Tartan Spirit will be showing our latest collection at the Country Living Chistmas Fair at the SECC Glasgow on Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st November. See us on Stand B35.
We had an amazing photo shoot on Saturday for our new posters. We braved freezing cold and hailstones on Loch Lomond and ended up with some great images.
Summer has been a busy season for By Storm and Tartan Spirit .
In May we were invited to Hopetoun House by Visit Scotland to take part in a film being made by an American company www.destinationbride.com showcasing Scotland as a Romantic destination for couples getting married. We took ex Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings and Gerardo Jaconelli (good Scottish name!) as our bride and groom to model our newly launched Tartan Spirit tartan ideal for a modern Scottish wedding. Lisa Light director of Destination Bride is a leading figure in the US bridal industry and was extremely enthusiastic about our Tartan Spirit Couture collection . The film is due to go on her website on 30th July. Destination Bride receives over 30,000 unique visitors every month so hopefully some of those hits will result in American brides choosing Scotland for their weddings and a dress designed by Joyce Young!
Mid May I took part in a truly inspiring business course run by Norma Corlette of Sulis Enterprises at Cameron House Hotel www.normacorlette.com. The intensive course involved an overnight stay and brought a go ahead group of women entrepreneurs together from diverse businesses who all went away with renewed energy and positive strategy plans to take their businesses forward through the recession and beyond. I would recommend this course to all business owners – it really keeps you focused.
In June we had a photoshoot for new mother of bride outfits in preparation for next season followed by a filming session at Cameron House. We were lucky to choose one of the hottest days of the summer, so far, and not only did the bridal dresses and mother of the bride outfits glow brilliantly in the sunshine the film is a great advert for the beauty of Loch Lomond and Cameron House. The filming of our collections is for our new .TV site which will have videos about all the different aspects of our company which we hope will explain better than words and pictures exactly what makes us so different to other bridal shops.
At the end of the month Tartan Spirit exhibited at The Royal Highland Show for the first time. 176,000 visitors attended the show and a good percentage of those must have visited the Shopping Arcade so it was great exposure for our brand and well worth standing in high heels for 4 days from 9am till 7pm at night! At this point I can recommend USA Nails in Dumbarton Road 0141 341 0695. Not only fabulous nails but wonderful relaxing foot spa !
We do get to visit some lovely places and during the Scottish Open we were invited to entertain the golfers’ wives at the Spa at Loch Lomond Golf Club. Tartan Spirit was very well received by the wives from South Africa, Australia and the U.S.
We are delighted to be sponsoring the costumes for Fiona Kennedy’s show Highland Heartbeat which debuts at the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness from 28th July – 1st August followed by a two month tour to the US from September. More about the show on www.highlandheartbeat.com
September is shaping up to be a busy month already.
Exciting news is that we are opening a shop in Cameron House Hotel which will be Joyce Young at LochLomond. In collaboration with Bo Concept who are designing the interior setting and DaveWilson of Loewe the shop will feature Tartan Spirit and a By Storm Couture wedding display along with jewellery by Sheila Fleet. Cameron House is an extremely busy hotel and we believe that Tartan Spirit will appeal to both International visitors and Scottish guests equally. Tartan Spirit brings a contemporary look to a traditional cloth and is proving popular with all age groups. The accessories make perfect modern gifts from Scotland and the cashmere jumpers and skirts are Stylish, Sophisticated and very Scottish.
The Wedding Exhibition season starts up again in September. We will be exhibiting at the Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC on 19th – 20th September . The Catwalk show promises to be a spectacular event with new 18 meter projection screen behind the models and extra long catwalk adding more interest and excitement for the brides.
Other shows we will be attending will be Live The Dream at Carlisle Racecourse promoting our Bridal shop in Gretna Green and the Scottish Trade Show at the Albert Halls in Stirling with Tartan Spirit 28th-29th Sept.
So looks like that is Autumn accounted for and then it will be Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
